Sang de Vie Productions Ltd. produced the professional concept album of seventeen tracks from the work in 2006 and the video of “Within My World”, from the show, was produced in 2007. The video was launched on the internet and on the o-music television channel during 2008.

Since the release of the concept album, the Dracula musical had been further improved and developed as a stage show. The producers intend to premiere the work as soon as possible. At this point, we hope to see this happen within the next year.

DRACULA - The NEW and COMPLETE version of the musical.

We have started recording more numbers for the new, fully orchestrated, version of the Dracula musical. The soundtrack will include an additional ten numbers from the work, including recently written material. This process will take several months to complete, from which an all new CD version of the reworked musical will be produced later in 2010.

Thanks to the CD, internet, radio and television broadcasts, this musical version of Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ already has an established following and growing worldwide fan base.

More information about the premiere of the professional musical, Dracula, by Evans, Orton and Lynn will be announced in the New Year.

There are seventeen fully orchestrated tracks from the score on the Dracula musical concept album. Seventy minutes of music from the show. These tracks reflect the over all “feel” of the work but are not the only "highlight" numbers in this musical. There are 30 numbers in the complete work. The 17 selected tracks included on the initial concept album were chosen to convey the main plot of the musical.

The already acclaimed British musical version of Bram Stoker’s Dracula has reached another mile-stone in its development.
Sang de Vie Productions Ltd, the producers of the Dracula musical concept album, have recently produced a short film of one of the numbers from the musical. The film is directed by an award winning director. .
The filming took place in November, 2007, and features the West End and Broadway performer Michael McCarthy as Dracula and Danielle York as Mina.
The film of the song, “Within My World”, is to be broadcast on national television in the UK and will be available to watch on internet from December.
A statement from a Sang de Vie representative reads as follows:

“We are only too pleased to lend further promotional assistance to this outstanding musical work by Evans, Orton and Lynn. It’s quite obvious by now, to anyone who knows the Dracula novel, that the writers have made every possible effort to remain true to Stoker’s classic Gothic tale. Both in terms of music and lyrics.
The director has further honoured us, and Stoker, in his wonderful visual interpretation of the song, “Within My World”, from the Dracula musical CD that we produced last year. Our intention was also to produce this film as a token of gratitude to the many people that have supported the work”.

Dracula Musical - The Facts

A few points of fact:
Just for the record, I have taken many risks for this work and will continue to do so for something in which I strongly believe. Especially for something which is supported by people that genuinely appreciate the work and the effort we have put into the Dracula musical. This brings me to some facts about the work itself:

1: The concept album was just that. A concept album of the proposed musical. Already, rewrites and edits are being undertaken, and new material written, for the recording of the complete work.

2: The character of “Dracula” in this musical is our interpretation of that very same cold and calculating character from Stoker’s original novel.

3: Given the disciplines and restrictions of musical stage presentations, in terms of time and holding attention, the musical plot is the main plot of Stoker’s original novel.

4: There is NOT any romantic involvement between Dracula and either of the leading female characters in this musical. The relationships remain just as they are in the original Stoker novel.

5: Again, Dracula remains the character from the book. Possessive, cunning, dangerous, wicked, passionate only to possess and corrupt by any means at his disposal.

6: The main characters of the novel are included in this musical. Their characters remain as they are in the novel.

7: Additions to plot and character:
It was important for us to show the connection between the fictional and historic Dracula. This serves as the prologue to the musical, when the audience discover the reason for Dracula becoming a vampire. No. This has nothing to do with a “lost love” and is based upon the character, and imagined reaction, of the historic Vlad.
There is a distinct personal motive that drives Van Helsing in the musical plot.
Dracula’s reason for his cold blooded actions are revealed in the musical plot, which was not on the concept album but is in the musical.
As in the novel, Renfield plays a very important role in the musical plot. Also, his original association with Dracula is revealed. This has been gleaned from some points Harker makes at Castle Dracula in the novel and from Stoker’s notes.

8: For the sake of brevity, some minor circumstances have been changed in the musical plot. Even Bram Stoker did this for the sake of his work.
According the Stoker’s original notes, there are several characters that never made it to the final edit of the novel. For instance, Van Helsing was originally to be three or four separate characters. Mina was to have a friend, called Kate, and Morris was to be secretly working for Dracula. Shock horror!

9: Yes. There are some intentionally humorous scenes in the musical

10: As far as we are concerned, and have so far discovered, ours in the only musical of Bram Stoker’s original novel in existence.
